For many meat lovers, the ‘back to nature’ trend means addressing the origin, production and processing of meat. For this reason, we have launched the ‘Swiss Farmer Veal’ programme together with small farmers and the Swiss Animal Protection Association, SAP (Schweizer Tierschutz, STS), which provides high-quality veal from particularly animal-friendly rural stable farming.

Calf fattening is carried out on holdings with a maximum of 30 fattening places. 1,000 litres of whole milk from the same farm cover the calves’ daily energy requirements. Hay and straw are freely available and provide raw fibre for optimal digestion and health. This guarantees that every calf has enough exercise and can move freely around. We oblige farmers and producers to ensure humane treatment of each species for rearing, transport and shelter. This process allows us to document the meat at every stage, without interruption.

For the ‘Swiss Farmer Veal’ programme, we carefully select our suppliers on the basis of quality criteria relating to fattening conditions. In doing so, we support farmers in the foothills of the Alps and offer them a good livelihood through calf fattening.

  • Guaranteed, particularly animal-friendly IPS RAUS livestock housing in accordance with IPS guidelines (with an outdoor surface area of 1.3m2 per calf)
  • Farmers are investing in these cattle shed facilities to enhance conditions and ensure the welfare of their animals
  • IPS RAUS guarantees cattle shed facilities with an outdoor area in accordance with IPS guidelines (non-roofed outdoor surface area of a minimum of 1m2)

Our Swiss Farmer Veal is wonderfully tender, succulent and unparalleled in taste. The intramuscular fat gives Swiss Farmer Veal the perfect, enjoyable flavour with its tender meat fibres. Swiss Farmer Veal is of outstanding quality and meets the highest taste demands.

Particularly animal-friendly cattle shed housing
Calf fattening takes place on farms with a maximum of 30 fattening places, which guarantees free movement in groups. The animal-friendly cattle shed facilities are commended by the animal protection association. Each calf has enough space to meets its needs for exercise and to rest in the straw.

These types of facilities are particularly healthy for calves, as they save them from being exposed to all weathers. A good cattle shed climate with sufficient fresh air is guaranteed. This keeps the use of medication to a minimum.

Feeding with milk
Each calf is fed with at least 1,000 litres of whole milk from the same farm. Feeding with whole milk guarantees optimal meat quality with the desired fat cover.

Promotion of farmers in mountain areas
We promote the keeping of calves in mountain regions and offer farmers a guaranteed income through our Swiss Farmer Veal brand. Individual care by the farmer is a real alternative to industrial fattening in large groups.

Health passport
Every animal reared for the Swiss Farmer Veal brand has its own health passport. The farmer is responsible for complete documentation on his farm.
